Radio Horton bids farewell to cherished volunteer

A statement from the trustees of Radio Horton follows:

Jeanette Warren, Trustee & Committee member sadly passed away aged 71 on 23rd April 2022.

Joining the station in 2015, Jeanette was a familiar face to many of our volunteers and will be fondly remembered for her passion and commitment to the organisation. As Ward Visitor Coordinator, Jeanette was responsible for training our fledgling ward visitors, taking them under her wing and demonstrating the various tasks involved in collecting requests, interacting with patients and assisting them in using the technology to listen to Radio Horton.

In addition, Jeanette organised a host of social events throughout the year to enable our volunteers to gather informally and advocated the station during our fundraising and community events, alongside her son, Bill.

She will be dearly missed by us all and is held highly in admiration for the drive and dedication she brought to the organisation, always with a smile. Our thoughts are with Bill, Leam, Dawnee and the family at this difficult time.

Radio Horton Volunteers, Chris & Mel Kirkpatrick said: “We were shocked to hear the sad news about Jeanette. Please pass on our feelings of sadness and support to Bill and the family; we found Jeanette very welcoming, kind and patient as she took us under her wing as novice ward visitors.”

Radio Horton Volunteer, Jane Holland added: “I am very sorry to hear about Jen, and can’t quite believe it, especially as you said she was at Morrisons. Please can you pass on my sympathy and wishes to Bill and his family, she was a lovely lady who arranged the various events we had so well.”

Yolanda Jacob, Horton General Hospital Operational Manager said: “I am so very sorry to hear this. Jeanette was such a lovely, caring lady who dedicated a lot of her time to the Horton. She will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.”
